Hi There! My name is Kristina Solloway and you have just entered In Jesus Country!
The title In Jesus Country may sound a little strange, like I’m a country singer from Nashville or something. And that’s what my first impression would be also upon hearing that title, but actually it has a much different meaning.
When my journey with God began, God gave me a dream. Without getting into all the details of the dream, it was definitely one of those very memorable experiential types of dreams. I still remember it. Anyway, in the dream God lead me on a wild and crazy roller-coaster-ride of a plane trip. While on the plane, God taught me I could rest in His hands and release myself to trust His driving skills. Once my fear moved to trust, and I was resting in my Driver’s hands, He flew me to a final destination – the most beautiful place I’d ever been to, where everything I could ever need was available to me. At the very end of the dream, I was on a boat with a tour guide and all I could see was his back since he was always leading me around. And as we floated on this crystal blue lake tucked inside this mountain valley, I took in the clear blue skies and lush scenery. It was so beautiful, like a place I’d like to live, but I didn’t have any idea where I was. So I asked the guide “Where are we? Are we in Maryland? Vermont?” And the guide answered, “Don’t you know? Why we’re in Jesus country!” That’s when I realized the guide was Jesus, and then the dream ended.
When I think about those words, In Jesus Country, I truly get a sense of citizenship to a new location, a heavenly location. It doesn’t matter where you live on this earth, once you enter Jesus Country, the address of your heart changes. And entry begins at the very moment you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and Savior of your life. Jesus Country is not a place you need to strive to get to, because you’re already there! And as you follow along with me, it’s my prayer that your new identity as a Jesus countryman will become more real to you than the world you physically and temporarily live in. And it’s certainly my hope that you will begin to live in the fullness of what Jesus died to give you, not letting anything go to waste.
That dream I just spoke about very much describes my journey. I went from being a control freak jam packed with irrational emotions, with a very unhealthy view of God, and a life that reflected that view, to a life of peace and joy with full expectation that God’s Word is true …. and now I have a life that reflects just that – “I have life and I have it more abundantly”. But the journey getting from point A to point B was truly a roller coaster ride of striving and fighting to find that rest that God promises us. That place where God’s Grace is truly sufficient – where Grace is a state of existence and not something your always trying to get. Now I hope to use what God has given me to help others so they can enter God’s rest faster than I did. God wants you to have His very best! It is His will that you enter into His abundance! And it is my greatest desire to help others arrive in their own Jesus Country life, and to build into God’s people so they can enjoy the life that God has for them!
The two scriptures that really frame the mission of this blog are 1) Ephesians 4:13 and Hebrews 5:14. In Jesus Country is a place that I hope will build up the body of Christ “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Eph 4:13) And then 2) Hebrews 5:14: “Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” Therefore, it’s my full intention to get you “acquainted with the teaching of righteousness”, which is the solid food that we all want to eat. When your heart is established in God’s righteousness, you can have the Eph 4:13 promise manifest in your life – “attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”! This is huge! It has changed my life! And while I still have a lifetime of growing to do and certainly don’t want to present myself as someone who has “arrived” by any means, I am convinced that this piece of the Christian life, being trained in the word of righteousness, is missing in most believers’ lives. It is one necessary revelation that the devil has done a good job stealing from the Church. And I can only hope, that someone out there will benefit from what I share here and their life will be changed forever too.
Besides using this blog as a vehicle for sharing the Gospel, I plan to share my new hobby, bible art journalling, which I will post my scripture-inspired artwork in my Art Gallery, as well as use it as a way tool to illustrate some of my journal entries. I will also be sharing my testimony in order to help build your faith and zeal for God. I know my faith is always boosted when I hear people’s testimonies, so hopefully I can boost yours!
So sit back, get cozy, and enjoy the ride, and allow me to show you just how wonderful our God truly is In Jesus Country.
